As a Cooperative Council, Newcastle aspires to ensure that services are delivered in cooperation with communities so that we can make informed choices about priorities and future service delivery.
Market Position Statements (MPS) are the first step towards achieving this cooperative ideal in the commissioning of services. They are designed to help providers and the people who use services in the City to understand what is currently on offer, and also what the Council thinks services might look like in the future.
Newcastle City Council has produced a Market Position Statement for General Home Care Services. General home care services support individuals with personal care and daily living tasks such as cooking and shopping. We want to use this document to show Adult Social Care providers and the people who use services in Newcastle what is currently on offer in the City, and also what the Council thinks services might look like in the future. We want views from people who need care and support and their carers about whether our approach matches their experiences and expectations of a good home care service. We also want providers of home care services to comment on how they can be involved in developing a responsive, flexible home care market that meets the needs of people as they age and helps them to remain living well in their homes for as long as possible.
