Gosforth High Street Bus Priority Measures 2023 - This consultation has now ended

Bus lane provision in Gosforth will be extended to improve bus reliability and journey times on this key public transport route. This would see the northbound bus lane extended to provide an almost continuous bus provision running from Blue House Roundabout in the south to the Church Road / Salter's Road junction in the north. At the same time, the bollards will also be removed.
The plans are part of a phased approach to the High Street which would see bus priority measures installed from 20 March using an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO), with a second phase looking at the longer-term options for the high street.

Why we are consulting here and on the consultation page linked to above (Commonplace)

Every traffic regulation order (TRO) consultation is posted on Let’s Talk Newcastle Online regardless of the size of the proposal. This is because we need to ensure that each TRO has a dedicated consultation, including for 'High Street, Gosforth - Experimental Bus Lanes Order and Traffic Regulation Order 2023', and 'East Jesmond Area - Low Traffic Neighbourhood - Experimental Traffic Regulation Order 2023'. We create dedicated pages for the wider consultations as a whole to collect feedback over a long period of time on Commonplace, so if those consultations include TROs, then they appear on both platforms. Our consultation reports present the findings from both online forums, and also from emails, letters, phone calls and social media. If you have questions please email us at the email address above.
