Staff consultation on our draft budget proposal 2012-13 - This consultation has now ended

We have published our draft 2012 budget proposals (pdf, 1.67mb) for consultation. The budget proposals should be read in conjunction with ‘a fair budget for a fairer city’ which provides more information on the financial context facing the council, and the evidence base and policy choices which have informed these proposals.
We want to hear from anyone who wishes to comment, in particular those who feel they might be directly affected by the proposals. It is very important that the council fully understands the impact that budget cuts could have on individuals and communities across the city. The council has carried out full Equality Impact and Needs Assessments (EINA) on every proposal to try to identify the potential impact of proposals, view a list of all the EINAs here.
You can also find all the budget proposal documents on our website at www.newcastle.gov.uk/budget2012-13.

What happens next?
Consultation on the council’s draft budget will be open until 15 February 2012. The council’s Cabinet will meet on 22 February to consider responses to the consultation and recommend its draft budget to Council. Council will meet to agree a budget on 7 March 2012.
You can share you views on our budget proposals on this website through our survey and topic wall.
