Student Accommodation Survey 2016 - This consultation has now ended

Newcastle City Council is currently reviewing the impact of the growth of student numbers has had on the city and the potential for further growth of new purpose built student accommodation as part of its review of the Maintaining Sustainable Communities Supplementary Planning Document (SPD).
This survey forms part of the evidence base for the revised SPD relating to current and future demand for student accommodation in the city. It has been sent out to providers of purpose built student accommodation and the information will help the Council to develop future polices to continue to provide an environment where the Universities, businesses and residents can prosper.
The results of the survey will be amalgamated of provide a profile of student accommodation across the city. Individual responses will not be made available to the public. Please complete an individual survey for each block of properties you manage/own. For more information please contact Colin White: colin.white@newcastle.gov.uk

Thank you for viewing the "Let's Talk Newcastle"  Student Accommodation Survey topic and to the people who completed the online survey.  The information gathered has helped us to update the Maintaining Sustainable Communities Supplementary Planning Document (SPD).  This revised document aims to control the conversion of family homes into houses in multiple occupation, new purpose built student accommodation and other shared housing developments through the planning system.

Formal consultation on the new SPD will be undertaken in October 2016 with final approval schedule for the start of 2017.  If you would like to be involved in the formal consultation please send me an email to confirm this (colin.white@newcastle.gov.uk) and you will receive the relevant information when the formal consultation begins.
