Proposals to increase pupil numbers at Broadway East First School and transfer the school to a new site (2017) - This consultation has now ended

From September 2020, Newcastle City Council is proposing that Broadway East First School, Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne NE3 5JQ (no.391/2006) should increase the capacity of the school from 225 pupil places to 450 pupil places.

This means that from September 2020, up to ninety (90) children could be admitted into reception class at age four plus years (4+). It is likely that the school will open as a two-form (60 pupils) entry school and grow to three forms of entry.  In September 2017, up to 45 pupils (1.5 forms of entry) were admitted to reception class at age four plus years (4+).
In order to accommodate the additional pupils, the Governing Body of the school proposes that the school should, from 1 September 2020, transfer to a new building on a new site in Newcastle Great Park.  The new school premises on the Great Park will be built to a size to accommodate up to 450 pupils. The age range of pupils attending the school will remain unchanged at four plus (4+) to nine plus (9+).
Background information and details of the proposal will be available on the school’s website from Thursday 28 September 2017: Broadway East First School - Expansion and Relocation.
Anybody can object to or make comments on the proposal by 26 October 2017. A final decision has been made on the proposals by Newcastle City Council Cabinet in November 2017 and published on the council's website here: Broadway East First School Expansion and Relocation Decision
