The Newcastle Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment for 2018-2021 is now out for consultation. The Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) describes where community pharmacies are located, how services are currently delivered and what the current and future need for pharmacy services will be in Newcastle.
The PNA is used to make decisions about whether to allow new pharmacies to open up in Newcastle, as well as approving changes to existing pharmacies in Newcastle, for example if they want to merge premises or provide different pharmacy services.
The Wellbeing for Life Board is required to produce a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment every 3 years and as part of the production of the PNA, the regulations require that a 60-day consultation should be undertaken.
The consultation is now live until 26 January 2018. We have created an online survey which asks questions about the draft PNA document, which you can read here:
We will consider what people tell us in the survey when completing the final assessment, and this will be published on our website on 1 April 2018.
If you have questions about the consultation, or you need this information in a different format such as large print, please contact Andre Yeung at: andre.yeung@newcastle.gov.uk.
Thank you for giving us your views.
