Where you receive a discount, an exemption or benefit towards council tax – changes are about to be made that will affect you from 1 April 2013.
We currently pay council tax benefit to over 38,000 households in Newcastle. The government is cutting the amount of money they give to local authorities for council tax benefit by a national average of 10% next year, which will mean around £2.77 million less for Newcastle, but this could be more.
We have some decisions to make about how these changes will affect certain groups, and we would like you to help us make these. Please answer these questions to help us decide how we can make cuts fairly to council tax benefit, exemptions and discounts.
