The Council is currently planning its budget for the next three years and making difficult choices about how to manage with far less money. Like many Newcastle households, we have found that things are getting more expensive and the amount of money we receive from the Government has been cut.
It is the job of the Chief Executive to prepare a budget and make sure that the Council maintains the services that are important to you. Over 1200 residents took part in discussions about what kind of City we want to be in 2016 and the next step is to turn those aspirations into a budget proposal. It is important that residents’ views are heard and that we work together to make these decisions.
We want to bring together a group of residents in a Citizen’s Panel to help us shape our budget proposals. This is a new approach for the Council - in the past we’ve asked for residents’ input only after our full proposals have been published. The success of this new approach depends on your response.
Would you like to be a member of the Citizens’ Panel and contribute your views, ideas and experiences to this important discussion?
I have included a note which explains how the Panel will work, click here to read the Citizens' Panel guide
