Digital Inclusion strategy 2014 - This consultation has now ended

Technology is playing a bigger and bigger part of everyday life and it’s important that as many people as possible can access the Digital Age. The government’s Welfare Reform agenda and strategy of 'Digital by Default’; public sector cuts; and increasing consumer demand for improved broadband facilities make ‘digital inclusion’ a key Newcastle City Council priority. While work is done on the ‘pipes and wires’ – the  complementary ‘Local’ and ‘Urban’ broadband plans - significant work also needs to be done to coordinate existing access points, digital learning resources and the ability of local people to act as Digital Champions. We’ve set out how we might do this in our new digital inclusion strategy.
