The Local Government Boundary Commission for England has launched the next round of consultation on Newcastle's 'warding patterns' - new wards for Newcastle upon Tyne. From LGBCE: "We review the electoral and boundary arrangements of councils to make sure they are fair. Our reviews include at least two rounds of public consultation before we make recommendations for change. 
  • 16 January 2024: We decide how many councillors there should be
  • 23 January- 1 April 2024: We carry out an initial public consultation on communities
  • 9 July - 16 September 2024: We carry out a public consultation on our proposals
  • 7 January 2025: We publish our recommendations
  • TBD We ask Parliament to approve our recommendations
  • 2026 New arrangements apply to local elections."
