Newcastle's Parks and Allotments in 2024 - This consultation has now ended

We are looking at options for the future of Newcastle’s parks and allotments. To help us do this, we really need to hear from you about your views on parks and allotments, what you think about them at present, and suggestions for what should be a priority for them in future.

Many thanks to everyone who took part in our consultation on Newcastle's Parks and Allotments in 2024. We received over 1000 responses by online survey, emails, and social media. Key findings included:

74% of people taking part visited a park once a week or more.
'Access to green space’ topped the list of things people value most about Newcastle’s parks - 73% of people taking part said this.
22% of people taking part were allotment holders.
'Food growing opportunities' was what people in the survey valued most about allotments - 66% of those with an allotment who took part said this.
People's priorities for parks in future included: increased accessibility for all, improvement of safety and security, improvement of general upkeep and cleaning, and improvement of biodiversity.
Allotment holders priorities for the future included accessibility, safety and security, general upkeep and biodiversity are important.
